Same amazing concentrate - now inside a home-compostable bag! You may notice that our concentrated powders now have slightly different packaging: a little bag which sits inside our home-compostable box. A complexity of using a home-compostable box is that they can be very fragile, and we want to ensure that these concentrates arrive to you safe, secure, and ready to mix! Of course, the little bags inside are compostable, biodegradable, and made from a renewable plant source. Depending on your region, the packaging you receive may vary as we transition to include the clever little bags. If you have any questions, drop us a line.

1. Pour entire contents of box into a heat-proof jug.
2. Add 300ml (10.14 fl.oz.) of just-boiled water and gently stir till with a fork until the powder has dissolved. The key word here is *gently*. Otherwise, you’ll get a whole lotta foam on your bench that you’ll then need to deal with.
3. Allow it to cool slightly, then pour the mixture into a bottle you already own and pop a label on it. Give it a few shakes while it’s cooling.
4. Once made, use your liquid shampoo within six months.

Massage into wet hair; starting at the roots and working down the ends. Apply a coin size amount to wet hair and scalp. Massage in well to create a creamy lather before working down ends. Rinse for bouncy, refreshed, healthy-looking hair.

Use any plastic or aluminum container – it’s best to choose something that is shatter-proof. Even better if it has a pump to make washing a little easier.

Wouldn’t buy again

It came as a solid bar in the box, not as the powder described), and took a long time to dissolve in hot water when mixing. It hardly lathers so I find I’m using a lot of it and it won’t last any where near the number of washes advertised. I have liked Ethique products in the past and love the sustainability initiative, however this product is not economical.

Kia ora Ana,

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a review, although I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't love this one!

Our concentrates are low lather although this shouldn't mean that you need to use more. We do have a product guarantee, and I'd love to send a few minis of our Shampoo bars your way so you can find a product better suited for you. If you're interested in this, can you please send us an email at hello@ethique.com along with what your roots are like e.g. oily, dry etc and your delivery details 😊

Hard to lather

I really want to love this, but I can't. It really hard to lather. I tried to follow the suggestions that not use too much shampoo, it still doesn't work. I have to wash my hair three times or more. I tried the old formula that is easier to lather. I like the old formula. Please keep the old formula!

I want to love this..

I keep buying this version of the conditioner concentrate while the nourishing one is out of stock (has been for a while now, I’ve bought this three times). Each time the powder is completely solid in a block. The first time I thought I might have got a bad batch, but all three have been the same now. It’s really hard to break up, so I do it in a blender and whizz with boiling water in there. It’s still lumpy and gritty and clogs up the pump in my bottle. However, it does work. Not as effective on my dry hair as the nourishing one, but a good second best (the orange one isn’t for me). I’ve started mixing with a bit of olive oil too, which seems to work better with my dry hair.

It's early yet

I was able to get it mixed with water easily enough, and luckily it fit into the container I had ready for it. I love that it's unscented and lathers up well. I don't love that my scalp still itches.
