It smells good but I don't love the texture.
First, best deodorant fragrance I've EVER encountered. Strong enough that I can smell it but not overpowering enough that it makes me sick. The smell continues to hold for most of the day. And continued to smell “new” for most of the life of the stick (maybe the last two weeks the smell didn’t hit as much). Lasted over two months with twice a day use. Formula feels nice- not sticky. HOWEVER, horrible white line residue and chunky build up. Luckily the feeling didn’t bother me but it wasn’t a good look in the summer. I also didn’t travel with it for fear it would melt in the paper casing. I don’t like that I have to use my fingers to pull it up and it’s such a tight squeeze that sometimes I cut a piece of it off with the cap. I felt like it made a mess around the case because of these issues. On a regular day I felt like it kept good coverage but on an extra sweaty day I could smell myself get a little stinky so not a perfect 12 hour coverage IMO. I would revisit this product in the future but right now ganna shop elsewhere because I would love something that doesn’t leave white marks. Sad to not have this fragrance though. I have sensitive skin and I didn’t get a reaction at all. I used this product with and without armpit hair and it worked just the same. First time using such a green deodorant product and I wasn’t completely turned away so that’s a win!

Our deodorant formulation is creamier than a traditional deodorant to make it easier to apply and use. You only need to press a small amount of product up from the base and apply a very small amount to under the armpit. The deodorant shouldn't come off in clumps - and you shouldn't apply too much product that your underarm has a thick layer on top of the skin.
Instead - focus on applying a very small amount, and rub in with your fingers to ensure the product is fully absorbed. I'd recommend using significantly less product and/or rubbing the applied deodorant into the skin with your hands to make sure there's no excess product sitting atop the skin to transfer from your underarm to your clothing. The key is to really not press too much up in your first use - go slow!
When it comes to how it works - it's not an antiperspirant - this means it won't stop you completely from sweating, but it will prevent bad odours and help to absorb sweat. It is a natural deodorant after all and we choose to not use aluminium due to our product promise. Natural deodorants can only achieve so much, so in warmer temperatures or environments you might find that you need to reapply during the day to "top up". When you do switch to a natural deodorant without aluminium it can take a while for your body to adjust to sweating normally again - this can take a couple of weeks for your skin and routine to adapt. This is due to the process of your body not using aluminium salts to block the sweat glands.
For many consumers they adjust to the change over a month and we generally always have very positive feedback about our deodorants, how they work, and the bonus of the ingredients we choose to not include.
While we're all about the benefits of home compostable, plastic-free packaging, I’ll admit it’s not as tough as the more traditional glass or plastic dispensers. It does need a little extra care when putting the lid back on, and if it gets misaligned, it can damage the inner lip, making it harder to get the lid back on later.

A quality deodorant that comes in a cardboard container. It's a win-win!
I've tried many natural deodorants and never stuck with them, so it's a pleasure to be coming to the end of this stick! So easy to use, in a sturdy cardboard tube that doesn't get soggy with use. Beautiful fresh fragrance - could be seen as "masculine" but I don't like floral scents. And it really does the job, though I do need a top-up if doing anything particularly sweaty. I'll definitely be getting more of these, it's my new favourite deodorant.
Ever since I started using ethique’s deodorants nothing else has matched it. No skin irritation and lasts me through the day.
